Granite Countertops

What are the characteristics of granite?
  • Durability: Highly resistant to heat and scratches.
  • Natural Variation: No two granite slabs are alike, meaning pattern and color will vary.
  • Porosity: Requires sealing to prevent stains and etching.

Yes. While BBG Granite applies a courtesy first seal, it is recommended to re-seal granite periodically to maintain its stain resistance.

Yes, seams are a natural part of the installation and can be felt when you run your hand over them. Seam placement is determined by BBG Granite unless specified in writing prior to production.

Granite naturally contains fissures, which are not considered defects. If a chip or crack occurs, BBG Granite can repair the stone if it is within industry standards, but replacements are not covered.

Quartz Countertops

What makes quartz different from natural stone?

Quartz is an engineered stone, composed of approximately 91-95% natural quartz and polymer resins, making it non-porous, stain-resistant, and low-maintenance.

No. Unlike natural stones, quartz does not require sealing since it is non-porous and resistant to stains.

Yes. Quartz is heat-resistant but not heatproof. Placing hot cookware directly on quartz can cause discoloration or damage, so always use trivets or heat pads.

Since quartz is an engineered product, there is more consistency in color and pattern than natural stones. However, minor variations can still occur between slabs.

Marble Countertops

What should I know before choosing marble?
  • Marble is more porous than granite, making it prone to staining and etching from acidic substances.
  • Surface scratches and fissures are common in marble.
  • Not recommended for kitchen use due to its susceptibility to damage.
  • Requires frequent sealing and maintenance to retain its finish.

Marble can scratch, etch, and lose its shine over time. It is not covered by warranty for normal wear and tear. Additionally:

  • Seams will always be visible.
  • White powdery residue (efflorescence) may appear on the surface.
  • Holes and cracks are common in travertine marble, which is sold “as is” by BBG Granite.

While marble is popular for bathrooms, fireplaces, and vanities, it is not recommended for kitchens due to its softness, staining, and etching tendencies.

Can I select my exact slab?

Yes. Customers can personally select their slab before fabrication. Once the slab is chosen, no refunds or discounts will be provided for cosmetic complaints after installation.

BBG Granite offers polished, honed, and leather finishes, but changing the finish may alter the stone’s appearance. BBG Granite is not responsible for unexpected results from refinishing.
